Cedar-Riverside, Mpls

Definitely one of my favorite neighborhoods anywhere, right next to Augsburg College and the U's West Bank if you aren't quite sure where it is. It's a great mix of old hippies and African immigrants, which makes for a lot of good places to eat and some great stores like Mayday Books, Global Village, North Country Co-op, the Red Sea, and the Hard Times Cafe.

Cedar-Riverside is also one of the best live music neighborhoods in the world with places like the 400 Bar, the Triple Rock, the Red Sea (see above), the Cabooze, and the Nomad. I know most of the other bars also have smaller stages with live music a couple nights a week. New York is the only city with more live music venues per capita and this is the heart of the local scene.

Since my school is right here, I'm sure I'll add more from Cedar-Riverside in the future...

MN State Fair

The place is like a ghost town in winter, everything is borded up and no one is around...

You can find just about anything on a stick at the fair...

The horse stables are pretty cool when no one is around, very tranquil and still, it's really sort of strange when you are used to seeing the area overflowing with people...

After I took this picture some hippies from Wisconsin drove by and flashed me peace signs...that was very neighborly of them...I think they were enjoying how surreal the fairgrounds are during the winter...

I found the GOP building and couldn't help myself...Republicans always bitch about how hard it is to be conservative in MN while they control the House and Gov. and have equal numbers in the US House and Senate. I guess their math isn't so good...

Around 28th and Lyndale, Mpls

I almost hate to think what this glove was used for, but there it was. I thought it looked pretty cool anyway...

Old toilet in the alley behind Art Materials, which is also good place to find some street art...

Tagged 'One Way' sign on 28th Street...

The above pics are all taken around
Intermedia Arts where you can see a ton of street art and other random things. You should all write to them an insist that they give me a show...

This glove has been stuck on this tree on the way to my bus stop for a few days now, so I thought I should get a pic of it. Last week there was a winter jacket hood stuck on a fire hydrant but I didn't get a pic of that, d'oh!

A New Blog!

Look, a new blog! I'll be putting random pics here taken while I wander around possibly with some stories or observations, hope it works out well!
